We all do it. It always happens. When we entertain we over excite ourselves and we over commit! Listen, I’m the queen. And before the 3 Gs I could pretty much pull off anything. Now, I can’t even pull off the things on my “Must Do” list let alone my “Wish To-Do” list! But the thing is, I like for things to look, cute – pretty – different, you name it. Anything but straight-out-of the package. But that takes time. A lot of it.
Here are a few quick and easy ways to spruce up food for your next event. Your guests will undoubtably think you’ve gone above and beyond (as you intended) but you wont have the bags under your eyes to show for it!
For this Skills + Frills event we created a milk and cookie bar. I made one home made cookie goodness (find the recipie for the insane Cookie Butter and Marshmallow Cookies here) and then I added in store bought cookies around her! Everything smelled home-made and looked super cute!
Store-bought crumb donut on a stick? Only with an ascot of course!
Yep. Little kids love it. We love it. Peanut butter or cookie butter and apple slices. Simple. Crowd pleaser. I put it in a little wooden bowl filled with wooden beads. I gaurentee if you put this out at your next casual event there will not be any left!!!
Veggies and dip – or hummus in individual cups. Make it easy for guests to grab food so they don’t feel like they are lingering. A bonus, they look great and you don’t have to worry about double dipping!
Chip and dip.
Mini bell peppers filled with hummus sprinkled with paprika!
And Trader Joes just gets me every time. The biggest beauty in it? Everything is like under $3! They have miniature pies (pecan and pumpkin in the fall and fruit pies the rest of the year). I added a cupcake liner under each pie and dressed them up with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon! Last but not least. My favorite go-to. Microwave popcorn in adorable packaging. I love to give this to people for meetings or workshops. Who doesn’t like to munch of freshly popped popcorn?
I hope some of these ideas will make your life a bit easier! What is your favorite way to spruce up something store bought? I’d love to hear about it!
